President Mugabe's Presidential Motorcade

For people who live in certain parts of Harare, seeing the presidential motorcade is a daily occurrence and quite possibly disturbance. It is known that you civilian cars should clear the road at the sound of the leading sirens and the sight of the flashing lights. Those who live in other parts of the country may have had a chance once in their lives to see or it is a thing of legend. Stories about pedestrians being hit, high speeds, armed guards etc. IIIIIII got to see it for myself when I attended the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo this year. Guards and police started clearing the path out of the show grounds towards the back of the fair HERE it was in ALL it's glory right before my eyes. What was a liker of things to do?! Press RECORD:

For some of you this may be the first time you have seen it, and for others, depending on how these elections go, this may be the last. To be fair, this was a huge national and international event involving many ministers, dignitaries and delegations so it was a lot longer than the typical office to state house commute. Admittedly, I was both nervous and UBER excited to see it live with my own eyes and I think the thing with a man like the President Mugabe, however you may feel about him as a Zimbabwean, his presence and history and controversy gives one pause. Enjoy :)

Tomorrow and for some already today, Zimbabweans are voting for who will be the next President of the Republic. The last were held 5 years ago when the Government of National Unity was formed with power sharing between the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), led by Morgan Tsvangirai, and ruling ZANU-PF led by Robert Gabriel Mugabe. July 31, 2013, is the day Zimbabwe will be and is deciding who will be the next President and this time there are a few more chefs in the kitchen - potential for messiness. Anywhoo, right now I'm not here to pick or express which side I think is worthy as a removed Diasporan I think the people of Zimbabwe IN Zimbabwe are best equipped to do that and deserve to elect the leader they deserve.
