When Dakar met Harare!

[What I wore: hat (H&M), tee (Target), sweater (Zara), skirt (Urban Outfitters), belt (LOFT), bag (H&M), shoes (Clarks)]

From my last post (Roadtripping to Harare), this was the next day - Saturday. We woke up a good number of hours into the day. The things we did during the day are for another post, but the best part was the Baaba Maal concert. I, me personally myself, got to see this Senegalese international music legend live in Zimbabwe!!
The crowd was very diverse (unfortunately, code for mostly not Zimbabwean) and the atmosphere was all the way live. Towards the end of his performance, Chiwoniso, a Legend (yes capital L) Zimbabwean singer came on stage and her bass heavy voice lit the crowd on FIRE!
Here are some snippets from the concert below:

These are the types of shows and opportunities I live for! I was just thinking back to some of the great shows I've seen in different parts of the world and this is what I readily remember:

Brenda Fassie
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire
Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra
El Jem, Tunisia
Kool and the Gang
Tunis, Tunisia
Manu Dibango
Tunis, Tunisia
Washington DC (x2), Dar-es-Salaam
Lira
Washington DC
Zahara
Zimbabwe
Washington DC
Washington DC
Michael Bolton
Washington DC
Malaika
Washington DC
Liquideep
Miami, FL
Bulawayo, Zimbabwe
Youssou N’dour
Washington DC
Washington DC
Harare, Zimbabwe

There have been a lot of smaller acts as well and other types of live shows like plays and dances. Can you tell I’m a huge fan of the arts?! I love the random dude playing drums or buckets on the corner or in the park along with that violinist on the platform while i'm waiting for the train - all of it!
