“The piano ain't got no wrong notes.”
This piano belonged to some good friends of my grandparents waaaay back in Zambia (pre-Zimbabwean independence). They were from Yugoslavia and the man was a doctor. They knew each other many years and even when my grandparents came back to Zimbabwe upon Independence (April 18, 1980), they kept in touch. That couple eventually moved from Zambia to Botswana. In the 90s, after having lost touch with each other for a while, the wife got in touch with my grandparents to tell them her husband had passed away and as such she would be going back to Yugoslavia. She asked that since my grandparents were some of the best friends they had that my grandparents come and get things. This was one of the things - a 1935 Challen Grand Piano!
My mom loved it and had the space at home so it now has an amazing room to itself at home in Joburg. The most play it's gotten here was when a piano player from MonteCasino came to play background music for a dinner party we had. I myself have never played it, but on this week long visit home I decided to stop walking around it like it was a statue! Yes it's great decoration, but great to use as well :)

p.s. So i was randomly wondering if Alicia Keys' last name is her real last name because what an awesome coincidence it would be if it was. But alas! I asked on twitter and got told quite quickly that it is not. Oh well, for the sake of celebrity and my own personal skills, we might be related ;)
