My First Time: INAUGURATION!

Today was Inaguration Day!!!!! I had a slow start to the morning and knew that it didn't make much sense for me to try and make it out for the swearing in of the President so I watched it all on tv at home. All of it from Beyonce singing (how far she has come) to the MLK Bible to the panning of the celebrities in the audience to getting a full visual of just how a million people in the National Mall looks like. It was all amazing. I missed Obama's first inauguration because I was in Nigeria for the break (my  mom lived there) and watched enviously on CNN. Today, for this one, living in the DMV there was no way I was going to miss it! I hopped on the train to meet up with my roommate and we had lunch at Nando's since the parade wasn't for another 2 hours. There was no congestion on the train and it was all smooth sailing.
Nando's quarter chicken and chips with a pitcher of sangria

my trusted go to kanga from Tanzania my mom got me that i pull out for all things Obama (voting, elections & now inauguration)
got my roomie one for her birthday too - we were repping!

THE single most epic poster/painting i've gotten myself ever!! Take a close look at who's featured on there riding the horses :: Tupac, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King with Coretta Scott, Rosa Parks, POTUS + FLOTUS, Malcom X, Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley (couldn't quite identify 2)
the street artist who painted the originals that were then posterized and he autographed ours :)
out to the parade - Pennsylvania Ave. is on the other side of the bleachers
people lined up to get through security to be ON Pennsylvania Ave
flags everywhere and a "Thank You Mr. President" banner on the building
people along the top of the International Trade Center / Ronald Reagan Building

$5 Inauguration themed condoms. "think about the elections when you get your next ...." said the guy selling them
 another view of the parade
i just had to stand in the middle of this intersection because as soon as tomorrow that will never be possible
there's about 4 layers of security here blocking the street (bus, humvee, police, & undercover)
(my first pair of Uggs (: )
we did a little shopping downtown and before hopping on the train saw this humvee beckoning for a picture and willing photographer :)

All in all it was a great day and i'm glad I got to witness! Inauguration 2013, where were you????
