oh my goodness with all this RECESSION talk is it possible to find a JOB?!?!!?
i guess i'll be finding out very soon - i'm looking very hard!!!
i don't know how fruitful it is to be looking for a job in the non-profit sector right about now, but i'll see what my efforts get me in the end. listening to NPR (88.5 fm) and hearing snippets from other news sources, experts and "regular" folk are saying that it's better to get any job, whether related or not to what we are qualified to do, just to have a source of income.....YIKES, i hope i won't be forced to settling for just ANYTHING!!!! some people, after long careers, are returning to school which leaves me wondering what those of us that are still in school are supposed to do - just linger here?! lol....or look forward to the lights being out once we get to the end of the tunnel?!
there are specific sites and sources i know to go to looking for jobs, but lately my searches are becoming slightly more disjointed, but surprisingly refreshing as i look up more random keywords. I found a site that caters to the hopeful [optimist] in me that believes that no matter how bad things might be going in our lives relative to the standard we maintain ourselves, there is ALWAYS someone who has it worse and has absolutely NO MEANS of getting themselves out of that situation. They are not lucky enough to have to choose to use coupons in order to cushion themselves against skyrocketting gas prices because they don't have a car, gas money, grocery stores, coupons, and might very well be illiterate - amongst a looooong list of basics :(
Such is life and as long as there are haves and have-nots, it's the duty of those that are blessed to share otherwise it's a waste. afterall, "work is the medicine of poverty"....
the link to the site is http://www.idealist.org - somewhat ironic :)
it's filled with not only jobs, but internships, volunteer opportunities, but just information and a directory of sooooo many NGOs that are searcheable from all sorts of angles (location, qualification [or lack thereof], language etc.)....besides the search i was doing i just found there was a lot to learn and many other ways to get into and around the non-profit sector both professionally and personally <3
love.Love.LOVE it!
